Early Morning Blaze in Dacula Claims Life of Family Cat, Displaces Resident

On Saturday, November 2, 2024, at approximately 6:19 a.m., Gwinnett County firefighters responded to a house fire in the 2300 block of Lakeside Drive SE in Dacula. Upon arrival, crews encountered a working fire in a two-story split-level house, with heavy flames engulfing the left side of the structure.

Firefighters swiftly initiated a transitional attack using multiple hose lines and successfully brought the fire under control in approximately 25 minutes. During a search of the home, crews discovered one deceased cat. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported among the occupants.

The American Red Cross is assisting one adult resident displaced by the fire, which a fire investigator determined to be accidental, originating in the area of the carport.
