Homerville Man Arrested for Killing Grandfather and Assaulting Two Female Relatives

On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) arrested 21-year-old Tyler Hendrix of Homerville, GA, on multiple charges including Malice Murder, Felony Murder, and Aggravated Battery in connection with the death of his 77-year-old grandfather, Huey Hendrix, and the assault of two women, ages 70 and 49.

On Monday, September 23, 2024, the Clinch County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call at around 2:15 p.m. regarding an assault at a home in the 2200 block of Thelma Highway. Officers found Huey Hendrix and another victim inside the home with severe injuries. A third victim returned to the home shortly after deputies arrived, also showing visible injuries. All three victims were transported to a local hospital, where Huey Hendrix later died.

Deputies located Tyler Hendrix hiding in a shed nearby, where he was taken into custody. Investigators determined that Tyler had assaulted all three victims inside the home. He was booked into the Coffee County Jail.

One of the women remains hospitalized in stable condition, while the other has been released following treatment. Huey Hendrix’s body was sent to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Macon for an autopsy.

The Homerville Police Department, Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, and Atkinson County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation, which remains active and ongoing.
