Gwinnett County Police Seek Public’s Help to Locate Suspect in Armed Robbery

Gwinnett County Police detectives are requesting assistance from the public in locating Jay-Lan Broughton, who is accused of robbing multiple victims at gunpoint.

On May 24, Gwinnett County Police responded to a 911 call near the 6000 block of Apple Grove Road in Buford. Upon arrival, officers met with two victims. One of the victims reported that a man armed with a gun and four accomplices stole jewelry, a debit card, AirPods, and a driver’s license.

Detectives investigating the case discovered a vehicle linked to the suspects and identified Edmond Buggs, 17, of Lawrenceville, as being associated with it. Buggs, who has been arrested for a separate armed robbery charge, confessed to his involvement in this robbery and named his accomplices. He identified Jay-Lan Broughton, 17, of Duluth, as the individual who was armed during the robbery. Video surveillance footage corroborated Buggs’ identification.

Despite efforts to arrest Broughton, he has not been located and may still be armed with a black handgun. He is believed to be somewhere in Gwinnett County.
