Gwinnett County Police 911 Division Earns APCO Training Program Certification

The Gwinnett County Police Department’s 911 Communications Division was recognized at the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials’ (APCO) 90th Annual Conference and Expo for receiving the Agency Training Program Certification designation.

APCO International, the largest organization of public safety communications professionals with over 40,000 members, offers this certification to ensure that training programs meet the APCO American National Standards (ANS). These standards are essential for public safety telecommunicators who provide critical services in an evolving environment.

The 911 Communications Division submitted its training curriculum to APCO International for certification. The curriculum, training materials, and supporting documentation were reviewed to confirm that they equip telecommunicators with the necessary knowledge and skills. Following this review, the division was awarded the certification, which must be renewed every three years to stay current with the changing demands of public safety communications.

The division was recognized during the APCO 90th Annual Conference & Expo, held in Orlando, Florida, from August 4-7, 2024.
