19-Year-Old Ellijay Man Arrested in Sextortion Investigation Involving Woman

ELLIJAY, Ga. – A 19-year-old Ellijay man has been arrested on sexual extortion and privacy-related charges following an investigation involving the reported sextortion of a woman, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Victor Henry Vicente, 19, was charged with sexual extortion and eavesdropping, surveillance or intercepting communication that invades privacy.

The investigation began Sept. 4 when the Ellijay Police Department requested assistance from the GBI in investigating allegations that a woman had been targeted in a sextortion scheme.

The GBI did not disclose how investigators say the alleged sextortion occurred, what Vicente is accused of demanding from the woman or the circumstances underlying the surveillance and privacy charge.

Vicente was booked into the Gilmer County Jail on Sept. 21.

The Georgia Cyber Crime Center is involved in the ongoing investigation. Authorities have not said whether investigators believe there are additional victims.
