LaGrange Police Arrest Man in Armed Home Invasion Robbery That Targeted Mother and Son
LAGRANGE, Ga. – A month-long investigation into a violent home invasion robbery in LaGrange has resulted in the arrest of a suspect now facing multiple felony charges, including armed robbery, kidnapping, and elder exploitation.
The LaGrange Police Department announced that 30-year-old Skylar Malik Huzzie was arrested on Aug. 8, 2026, in connection with the incident.
Huzzie has been charged with:
- Armed Robbery (2 counts)
- Aggravated Assault (2 counts)
- Kidnapping (2 counts)
- False Imprisonment (2 counts)
- Aggravated Battery
- Peeping Tom
- Burglary
- Criminal Damage to Property
- Elder Exploitation
- Hindering a 911 Call
He is being held at the Troup County Jail.
Victims Forced to Open Safe at Gunpoint
The investigation began on July 8, 2026, when LaGrange police responded at approximately 11:08 p.m. to a reported armed robbery at a home in the 200 block of Gordon Street.
Officers met with Pauline Mattox and her son, Kendrick Mattox, who told investigators that a masked man armed with a handgun forced his way into their residence.
According to police, the suspect forced both victims into a closet before ordering them, at gunpoint, to open a safe inside the home.
The suspect then stole an undisclosed amount of jewelry before fleeing the scene.
The LaGrange Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division responded and launched an investigation that ultimately led to Huzzie’s arrest one month later.
Investigation Remains Open
Police have not released additional details about how investigators identified Huzzie as the suspect.
