FLOCK Cameras Lead Monroe County Deputies to Florida Burglary Suspect Driving Stolen Vehicle

MONROE COUNTY, Ga. – A Florida man accused of burglarizing an elderly victim’s home and stealing his vehicle was arrested in Georgia after deputies tracked the stolen vehicle using FLOCK license plate reader cameras, authorities said.

The arrest occurred on Thursday, July 30, at approximately 4:06 p.m., after the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) alert for a stolen vehicle from Bay County, Florida.

According to investigators, the suspect fled from Florida deputies after allegedly burglarizing the home of an elderly man and stealing both the victim’s property and vehicle.

Using FLOCK camera technology, Monroe County deputies located the stolen vehicle in the parking lot of the High Falls Inn and Suites with the driver still inside.

Deputies identified the driver as 31-year-old Trey Buntin of Panama City, Florida, and took him into custody without incident.

A search of the stolen vehicle led to the recovery of property belonging to the burglary victim, authorities said.

Buntin was charged in Georgia with:

• Theft by Bringing Stolen Property into the State
• Theft by Receiving Stolen Property
• Intentionally Covering the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to Conceal the Identity of the Vehicle

Authorities said Buntin also faces additional criminal charges in Florida related to the burglary and vehicle theft.

He is being held without bond at the Monroe County Jail pending further court proceedings.
