Louisiana Man Arrested After Interstate 85 Road Rage Shooting in Troup County
HOGANSVILLE, Ga. – A Louisiana man has been arrested after authorities say he fired multiple shots at another vehicle on Interstate 85 Tuesday, and investigators believe he is also responsible for a shooting on the interstate a day earlier.
According to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office, Troup County 911 received a call at approximately 11:36 a.m. on July 14 from Coweta County 911 reporting that a motorist traveling north on Interstate 85 had been shot at multiple times by another driver.
Investigators said the victim followed the suspect’s vehicle until it turned around and began traveling south on U.S. Highway 29 near Grantville.
A lookout was issued for the suspect’s vehicle, and officers with the Grantville Police Department, Hogansville Police Department and deputies with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the City of Hogansville.
The driver, identified as Kyle Sylvester Jr. of Louisiana, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Troup County Jail.
During the investigation, authorities determined Sylvester is also the suspect in a separate shooting that occurred on July 13 on Interstate 85 near Exit 28 in Hogansville.
Investigators have not released details about the earlier shooting or any injuries associated with either incident.
The investigation remains active, and authorities said criminal charges are still being determined.
No additional information has been released.
