Suspect Barricades Inside Fayetteville Home After Domestic Violence Shooting
FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. — A domestic violence incident in Fayetteville ended with one person hospitalized and a suspect in custody after barricading himself inside a residence Wednesday afternoon, according to the Clayton County Police Department.
Officers responded at approximately 4 p.m. on June 17, 2026, to the 100 block of Championship Court after receiving reports that a person had been shot.
When officers arrived, they safely removed the injured victim from the scene and provided emergency medical assistance.
The victim was stabilized and transported to a hospital for treatment. Police said the individual’s condition is currently stable.
According to investigators, the person believed to be responsible for the shooting remained inside the residence and barricaded himself.
Officers established control of the scene and ultimately took the suspect into custody without further incident.
Authorities have not released the identities of those involved or disclosed what led to the shooting.
The Clayton County Police Department said the case remains an active and ongoing investigation.
