BUFORD, Ga. — A 19-year-old man has been arrested following a drive-by shooting investigation that led authorities to recover a firearm equipped with an illegal conversion device and suspected narcotics, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department.

The investigation began after a drive-by shooting was reported on May 5, 2026, in the 2900 block of Milltown Court in Buford.

Detectives identified 19-year-old John Ikechkwu Osefo as a suspect and developed information linking him to a residence. Investigators subsequently obtained and executed a search warrant at the location.

During the search, officers recovered a Glock handgun fitted with a modified “switch,” a device that law enforcement says converts a handgun into a machine gun. Investigators also seized illegal narcotics from the residence.

Osefo was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, criminal damage to property, possession and use of an illegal machine gun, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession with intent to distribute.

According to police, additional gang-related charges are expected as the investigation continues.

No injuries related to the May 5 shooting were disclosed in the information released by authorities.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
