Young Man Charged With Murder After Fatal Shooting in Wilkinson County

WILKINSON COUNTY, Georgia – A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder following a fatal shooting early Thursday morning in Wilkinson County, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Investigators said Austin Marcus Allred of Ivey was charged with malice murder and aggravated assault in connection with the death of 25-year-old Tylan Ar’tavious Horne of McIntyre.

According to authorities, deputies with the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office responded around 1 a.m. on May 21 to a residence in the 100 block of Morningside Drive in Ivey, GA.

The sheriff’s office requested assistance from the GBI in the investigation.

Preliminary findings indicate Allred entered the residence and fired shots at Horne, striking him. Investigators said Allred left the scene and later returned.

Horne was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said Allred was booked into the Wilkinson County Jail.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
