Gunfire Erupts After Fight in Lee County Neighborhood; Deputies Recover Shell Casings
LEESBURG, Ga. — Authorities are investigating a late-night shooting on Wednesday, April 28th, in a Lee County neighborhood after a confrontation escalated into gunfire and multiple individuals fled the scene, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched around 10:15 p.m. to the 100 block of Edgelake Drive in reference to a disturbance involving several people. Investigators said two vehicles carrying multiple occupants were parked outside a residence when an altercation broke out between those individuals and people at the home.
The confrontation escalated into a physical fight in the roadway, officials said. As one of the vehicles, described as a dark-colored Jeep Wagoneer, left the scene, an individual inside fired multiple rounds.
By the time deputies arrived, all involved parties had left the area. Investigators recovered approximately 15 shell casings from the roadway.
Authorities also located one of the vehicles believed to be involved, which showed damage consistent with gunfire. The vehicle was impounded as evidence and will undergo further examination.
Officials said most of the individuals involved have been identified, but the investigation remains ongoing.
