Armed Standoff in Statesboro Ends with Arrest After SWAT Response
STATESBORO, Ga. — A late-night disturbance escalated into an armed standoff that ended with a suspect in custody after a SWAT response, according to the Statesboro Police Department.
Officers responded the night of April 25, 2026, into the early morning hours to a residence on Caribe Court following reports of a disturbance.
Police said that upon arrival, the resident began discharging a firearm multiple times. Officers evacuated nearby and adjoining apartments as the suspect continued firing sporadically.
A trained negotiator attempted to de-escalate the situation by speaking with the suspect by phone, but those efforts were unsuccessful.
Authorities said SWAT officers then deployed chemical agents into the apartment. When that did not result in compliance, the team entered the residence and took the suspect into custody without further incident.
The suspect was identified as 22-year-old Hunter Quinton, who was booked into jail. Charges have not yet been released.
Officials said no injuries were reported.
Police credited assistance from the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol for helping evacuate residents and secure the area.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
