Atlanta Man Arrested in Child Exploitation Investigation Spanning Multiple States

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A 33-year-old Atlanta man has been arrested and charged following a child exploitation investigation involving allegations he communicated inappropriately with juveniles online, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Matthew Evan Marks, of DeKalb County, was arrested April 16, 2026, and booked into the DeKalb County Jail.

Marks is charged with distributing obscene material to a minor, sexual exploitation of children, and violating the Computer or Electronic Pornography and Child Exploitation Prevention Act.

According to the GBI, the investigation began in June 2025 after the agency’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit received a request from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children related to an Internet Crimes Against Children investigation.

Authorities said the case involved a suspect accused of inappropriate online communications with juveniles.

The DeKalb County Police Department, New York State Police, and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina assisted in the investigation.

The investigation remains ongoing.
