Two Brothers Arrested in Deadly Sandy Springs Apartment Shooting
Derrick and Mason Washington

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — Two brothers are in custody facing murder charges after a fatal shooting at an apartment complex earlier this week, according to the Sandy Springs Police Department.

Police said 26-year-old Derrick Washington was taken into custody at his residence on April 14. The following day, April 15, his brother, 20-year-old Mason Washington, turned himself in at Sandy Springs Police Headquarters.

Both are charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

The charges stem from a shooting reported around 8:20 p.m. on April 14 at an apartment complex in the 550 block of Northridge Parkway.

Officers responded to reports of a person shot and found 29-year-old Justin Tucker suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers provided medical aid, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said the shooting followed an argument between the brothers and Tucker in a parking lot prior to the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing.
