3-Year-Old Fatally Shot in South Atlanta, Investigation Underway
ATLANTA, Ga. — A 3-year-old child has died after being shot early Sunday morning in South Atlanta, according to police.
Officers with Atlanta Police Zone 3 responded around 12:37 a.m. on April 5 to the 900 block of Washington Street SW for a report of a person shot. When officers arrived, they located a young child suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The child was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where medical personnel pronounced the child deceased.
Investigators with the Atlanta Police Department’s Homicide Unit responded to the scene and are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Authorities said the information released so far is preliminary and may change as the investigation continues.
