Cordele Police Warn of Planned Unauthorized Block Party, Promise Enforcement
CORDELE, Ga. — The Cordele Police Department is warning residents about a planned large, unauthorized block party and says the event will be shut down if it takes place.
Officials said a significant law enforcement presence will be deployed to maintain safety, order, and quality of life in the surrounding community.
Police emphasized that large, unpermitted gatherings, including block parties, street takeovers, and commercial-style events, are not allowed in residential neighborhoods or public areas without proper authorization.
Authorities noted that such events often lead to traffic congestion, unsafe roadway conditions, illegal parking, and increased risks for both motorists and pedestrians. Additional concerns include excessive noise, disruptive behavior, public alcohol consumption, illegal drug use, and the accumulation of trash and debris.
Officials said gatherings that result in overcrowding, disorderly conduct, or unsafe conditions may be deemed unlawful and subject to immediate enforcement action.
Police clarified the notice does not apply to small, private gatherings but is focused on large-scale events lacking proper permits.
Violations may result in the immediate shutdown of the event, citations, impounded vehicles, and possible arrests. Organizers and promoters could also face criminal and civil liability for damages or public safety issues related to the event.
Authorities are urging the public to avoid attending unauthorized gatherings and to make safe, responsible decisions.
The Cordele Police Department said it appreciates the community’s cooperation in helping keep the city safe and orderly.
