Wave of Violence Leaves Multiple Dead, Several Injured Across Macon in 48 Hours
MACON, Ga. – A series of violent incidents over a two-day period has left multiple people dead and several others injured across Macon, prompting an urgent response from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators say eight separate shootings and violent encounters occurred between early February 21 and the afternoon of February 22, 2026. Authorities emphasized that, at this time, none of the incidents appear to be connected, though all remain under active investigation.
Timeline of Incidents
1. Sharon Drive Shooting on February 21, 12:30 a.m.
In the 3300 block of Sharon Drive, a man attempting to break into his estranged wife’s home was shot. His injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
Davia Lee Evans Jr. was arrested and charged with criminal damage to property and battery (family violence).
2. Florence Avenue Homicide on February 21, 6:58 p.m.
Deputies responded to a person shot call in the 1500 block of Florence Avenue.
Shavis Adams was transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The homicide investigation remains ongoing.
3. North Atwood Drive Shooting on February 21, 7:24 p.m.
A 17-year-old male was shot while walking down the street in the 1600 block of North Atwood Drive. He was taken to the hospital by private vehicle and is listed in stable condition.
4. Key Street Shooting Into Home on February 21, 11:59 p.m.
Gunfire was fired into a residence in the 700 block of Key Street, injuring three victims:
- a 7-year-old boy
- a 24-year-old man
- an 18-year-old man
All were transported to a local hospital and remain in stable condition.
5. Holt Avenue Shooting on February 22, 1:29 a.m.
Shots were fired into another home in the 1200 block of Holt Avenue, striking a 17-year-old male. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is stable.
6. Triple Homicide on Moseley Avenue & Cedar Avenue on February 22, 3:35 a.m.
Deputies located three shooting victims near the intersection of Moseley Avenue and Cedar Avenue.
The victims, Charleston Burnett, 25; Jordan Gardner, 25; and Willie Cain, 26, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
7. Bloomfield Drive Shooting on February 22, just after 6:30 a.m.
Two women were injured when shots were fired into their vehicle while they attempted to pass another car near Bloomfield Drive and Williamson Road.
8. Dewey Street Shooting on February 22, just before 3:00 p.m.
A female victim was struck by gunfire after shots were fired into a vehicle in the 1300 block of Dewey Street. She was transported to a hospital and remains in stable condition.
Sheriff Speaks Out
Bibb County Sheriff David Davis addressed the community following the violence:
“These incidents have shocked our community. Sheriff’s Office deputies and investigators are working relentlessly to bring justice to each victim. Let me be clear — this violence in our community will not be tolerated.”
Davis also urged residents to assist investigators:
“Real change requires all of us. I’m asking our citizens to stand together, support the families impacted, and share any information that can help us ensure safety and peace in Macon-Bibb County. We are strongest when we stand together.”
