Two Arrested After Late-Night Burglary Call at Georgia-Pacific Facility in Glynn County

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. – Two men were arrested Saturday night after officers responded to a reported burglary in progress at Georgia-Pacific Wood Products on Georgia Highway 99, a site previously targeted for copper thefts, police said.

According to the Glynn County Police Department, officers were dispatched to the facility at 5101 GA-99 at approximately 9:54 p.m. on January 17th after a caller reported two individuals inside one of the buildings on the property. The location includes multiple structures, prompting officers to canvass the area.

During the search, officers spotted one suspect running between buildings. Patrol officers, assisted by a K9 unit, apprehended that individual without incident. A second suspect was located shortly afterward hiding behind another building on the property.

Police recovered a bag containing tools believed to have been used in the burglary. Both suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Glynn County Detention Center.

Jeffery McKinney, 48, of Baxley, was charged with second-degree burglary, obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers, and possession of tools for the commission of a crime. Marshall Latimer, 37, of Gainesville, was charged with second-degree burglary and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.
