Man Arrested for Overnight Nightmare Home Invasion and Rape of Child in Bulloch County
STATESBORO, GA – A 26-year-old man is behind bars facing a staggering list of felony charges following a terrifying home invasion and sexual assault in Bulloch County. Kenneth Moreno Guzman was taken into custody on Thursday afternoon after a high-stakes investigation by the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division.
The incident began in the pre-dawn hours of Monday, January 12, 2026, at a residence where investigators say Guzman forced his way inside while armed with a knife.
Details of the Assault
According to investigators, Guzman targeted a mobile home and encountered two young sisters. The details released by the Sheriff’s Office describe a harrowing scene:
- The Victim: An 11-year-old girl was forcibly raped while the suspect held her at knifepoint.
- The Witness: The victim’s 10-year-old sister was also in the room during the attack. While she was not sexually assaulted, the suspect allegedly used the knife to threaten her and prevent her from intervening or seeking help.
- The Suspect: Investigators revealed that Guzman lived in close proximity to the family but was not personally known to them, suggesting the attack may have been predatory in nature.
The Arrest
After several days of intensive investigation, deputies identified Guzman as the primary suspect. He was intercepted during a traffic stop on Thursday afternoon, January 15th, by a team of uniformed deputies and investigators. In addition to the new charges, authorities discovered Guzman had an outstanding failure-to-appear warrant for a prior misdemeanor.
Guzman is being held at the Bulloch County Jail without bond. The District Attorney’s Office for the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit is expected to pursue the following charges: Rape, Statutory Rape, Aggravated Child Molestation, Aggravated Sodomy, Cruelty to Children (1st degree), 2 counts of Aggravated Assault with a Knife, Home Invasion (1st degree), False Imprisonment, Burglary and 10 counts of Possession of a Knife During the Commission of a Crime (one count associated with each of the offenses listed).
Ongoing Investigation
Captain Todd Hutchens of the Criminal Investigation Division stated that while an arrest has been made, the investigation remains very much active. Forensic evidence is currently being processed to solidify the case for trial.
Guzman is also undocumented and an illegal resident in the U.S. Captain Hutchens confirmed that Guzman will be prosecuted in Georgia and will not be deported prior to the resolution of the case.
