Teen Critically Injured in Shooting on Shurling Drive, Bibb County Deputies Investigate
UPDATE: On January 2, 2026, the person of interest voluntarily identified himself and met with investigators at the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Headquarters. Upon further investigation of the incident, and review of the business’s surveillance system, Investigators were able to determine that the person of interest involved was not the primary aggressor in the incident that occurred inside BP Gas.
The reported victim was discovered to be the primary aggressor in the incident that led to him being critically wounded. The primary aggressor brandished a firearm in an attempt to rob the person of interest of a firearm in his possession. During the primary aggressor’s attempt to disarm the person of interest by force, the person of interest legally defended himself against the imminent threat imposed against him.
At this time, no charges have been brought against the identified person. This incident is still under active investigation.

MACON, GA – On Friday, January 2, 2026, at approximately 3:40 p.m., the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office (BSCO) responded to a report of a shooting inside the 800 block of Shurling Drive.
Deputies arrived to find a 17-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was immediately transported by ambulance to a local medical facility, where he is currently listed in critical condition.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. A photo of a person of interest has been released by the BCSO
