Man Dies After Armed Encounter With Police in Gwinnett County
NORCROSS, GA – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting that followed a vehicle pursuit late Tuesday night in Gwinnett County.
According to Gwinnett County Police, officers responded around 11:30 p.m. on December 30, 2025, to the 5700 block of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Norcross, GA, after locating a vehicle connected to an incident in another jurisdiction. During the encounter, the suspect rammed a marked patrol vehicle, disabling it, and fled the scene.
Additional officers located the vehicle and initiated a pursuit, which ended when the suspect crashed. Police say the suspect then exited the vehicle and ran. Officers chased the suspect on foot and issued multiple loud verbal commands, which were ignored. An officer attempted to deploy a Taser, but it was unsuccessful.
During the foot pursuit, investigators say the suspect pulled a firearm, prompting an officer to fire, striking the suspect. Police said the suspect fell to the ground but then turned and pointed the firearm at officers, leading additional officers to discharge their weapons.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. The individual’s identity has not yet been released.
No officers were injured during the incident.
As is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
