GBI, FBI Arrest 10 After Metro Atlanta Drug Raids Yield Fentanyl, Firearms, Grenade
ATLANTA, Ga. – Ten people have been arrested and charged following a joint drug investigation that led to the seizure of large quantities of narcotics, dozens of firearms, and a live hand grenade during coordinated raids across the metro Atlanta area, authorities said.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced the arrests Dec. 31, stemming from an investigation conducted by the GBI’s Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Atlanta and Cartersville offices.
On Tuesday, Dec. 2, agents executed multiple search warrants throughout metro Atlanta. During the searches, investigators seized approximately 8.2 kilograms of suspected fentanyl, three ounces of suspected heroin, three ounces of cocaine, and more than 10,000 suspected Schedule I and Schedule II pills. Authorities also recovered 71 firearms, a live hand grenade, and about $250,000 in cash.
The GBI estimated the street value of the drugs seized at more than $1 million.
Officials said the investigation targeted street-level drug distribution networks operating in Paulding, Cobb, Haralson, Carroll, and Douglas counties, with the goal of reducing the availability of illegal drugs and improving public safety in the region.
The investigation remains active and ongoing, and additional arrests are possible.
