Conyers Man Arrested for Murder After Victim Shot in Neighborhood

Conyers, GA – On Sunday, December 28, 2025, Conyers Police responded to a shooting at 259 Odyssey Turn in the Callaway Crossing neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers found 34-year-old Kadarin Ridley of Monticello lying on the sidewalk two houses away with gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts at the scene, Ridley was pronounced dead.

During the investigation, officers identified 39-year-old Antwan Smith of Covington as the suspect. A handgun was recovered at the scene, and witnesses confirmed Smith’s involvement. The relationship between Smith and Ridley remains under investigation.

Authorities say this was an isolated and targeted incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the community. Smith is currently being held at the Rockdale County Jail and faces charges of Murder, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Aggravated Assault.
