Savannah Woman Injured in Chemical Attack; Police Seek Public’s Help

Savannah, GA – Savannah Police are investigating an aggravated assault that left a woman with chemical burns.

On December 10, 2025, at around 8:15 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call near W. Walburg Street and Whitaker Street. First responders treated the adult female victim at the scene before transferring her to Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

According to police, the suspect, an adult male unknown to the victim, approached her and attacked her with a liquid chemical. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active.

Savannah Police Chief Lenny B. Gunther said, “Our first priority is the well-being of the victim, and our detectives are working around the clock to determine exactly what happened. While this was a disturbing incident, we want to reassure our community that we are actively investigating and have increased patrols in our parks out of an abundance of caution.”

Detectives are asking anyone who was in Forsyth Park that evening, particularly those who may have captured photos or video, to come forward.
