Fulton County Traffic Stop Uncovers Guns and Large-Scale Marijuana Operation
Fulton County Police say a routine traffic stop led to the seizure of drugs, guns and cash on December 11.
Cpl. Muid pulled over a red Nissan Altima for a cellphone violation. When he approached the car, he noticed a strong smell of raw marijuana coming from inside. That odor provided probable cause to search the vehicle and both occupants.
Officers found marijuana in the driver’s pockets, but the smell inside the car remained strong. A further search uncovered cash, two firearms and a suitcase holding more than seven pounds of marijuana. Some of the marijuana was individually packaged in a way consistent with distribution.
The driver was arrested on drug and weapons charges. Police say the incident is an example of proactive work that removed guns and drugs from the community.
