Savannah Police Arrest Man Following Fatal Domestic Shooting

SAVANNAH – The Savannah Police Department has arrested 53-year-old Pierre Byrd in connection with a fatal domestic shooting on Middleground Road. The arrest occurred on December 3, 2025.

Officers responded around 10:40 a.m. after receiving reports of threats made against the victim. While en route, police were notified of an active shooting and given a description of the suspect and his vehicle. Upon arrival, Byrd was identified and attempted to flee, but was apprehended following a brief foot chase.

First responders found the victim at the scene with a severe gunshot wound. She was transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries.

Byrd faces charges of murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with information to contact CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020 or submit an anonymous tip through the SPD mobile app.
