Albany Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested After Multi-County Pursuit

ALBANY, GA – The Dougherty County Police Department (DCPD) announced the safe apprehension of Lamarcus Antino Dunson, 49, following an armed robbery at the Stop n Shop at 2201 Liberty Expressway on Sunday, December 7th.

Dunson, identified as the suspect in the afternoon robbery, was located inside a residence just inside Mitchell County, Georgia. Law enforcement personnel from Dougherty, Mitchell, and Coffee counties coordinated in the search and took him into custody peacefully, without incident.

Chief Kenneth Johnson of the DCPD praised the collaboration between jurisdictions, stating, “We want to thank our officers, as well as our law enforcement partners in Mitchell County and Coffee County, for their swift action. Their cooperation led to the safe and quick apprehension of this individual, ensuring the safety of the public across our jurisdictions.”

Investigators confirmed that Dunson is wanted on additional outstanding charges in Coffee County, which will also be addressed through the proper legal channels. He is currently being held at the Mitchell County Jail and will be transferred to Dougherty County to face armed robbery charges.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are reviewing the circumstances of the Stop n Shop incident to determine if additional suspects or related criminal activity may be involved. Authorities urge anyone with further information to contact the Dougherty County Police Department.
