Sandy Springs Officers Shoot Armed Assault Suspect

UPDATE: LaAndre Marktanne Thomas was pronounced dead at the hospital on December 4, 2025. Thomas’s body will be taken to Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

SANDY SPRINGS, Georgia – On Thursday morning, December 4, 2025, a little after 10:30 a.m., Sandy Springs Police responded to an assault call near Roswell Road and Dunwoody Place. When officers arrived, they found a person who matched the description of the suspect.

As officers were speaking with the individual, the person drew a weapon. Officers fired, striking the suspect. The individual was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Detectives from the Sandy Springs Police Department were called to the scene and have taken over the investigation. According to the department, the encounter was recorded on the officers’ body cameras. The investigation remains active.
