Coffee County Man Arrested After Armed Standoff and Home Invasion

COFFEE COUNTY, GA – Deputies arrested a man Monday night after an armed standoff at a Kingwood Road residence that began as a trespassing call and quickly unfolded into a dangerous domestic situation.

According to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the home on December 1 after a report of trespassing. When they arrived, they learned the incident involved a domestic dispute that had spiraled out of control. Investigators say Lucio David Osornio showed up at the residence carrying two pistols and was making terroristic threats.

Deputies immediately evacuated everyone inside the home and discovered that Osornio had barricaded himself in a bathroom. Additional units from the D.I.C.E. Unit, the Douglas Coffee Drug Unit, the Criminal Investigation Division, and the Georgia State Patrol were called to assist.

As the situation continued to escalate, Sheriff Fred Cole and members of the command staff arrived and began speaking with Osornio in an effort to defuse the confrontation. After a brief standoff, deputies were able to take him into custody using non-lethal tactics, ending the incident without injuries.

Osornio was taken to Coffee Regional Medical Center for evaluation and later booked into the Coffee County Jail. He faces multiple charges, including first degree burglary, first degree home invasion, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, terroristic threats and acts, and possession of a firearm during certain crimes.

The Sheriff’s Office credited the coordinated response of multiple agencies for resolving the standoff safely.
