Escaped Rockdale County Inmate Sought After Stealing SUV and Firearm Near Grady Hospital
UPDATE #3: Shane was captured in Covington, GA.
UPDATE #2: The stolen Pontiac Grand Prix was found at Publix on Hwy 155 in Henry County. According to investigators, Shane requested an UBER to a residence in south Rockdale. RCSO units conducted a seach of the location, but he was not found. The manhunt continues.
UPDATE: Escaped inmate Timothy Shane is still at-large. Through their investigation, authorities say that he was observed in video footage stealing a Silver Pontiac Grand Prix bearing Georgia Tag RWN9945 near the Mercedes Benz Stadium. The vehicle was last seen traveling on GA 138 in Rockdale County heading towards Henry County. Shane is suspected to be wearing a red hoodie and dark blue pants. He is to be considered armed and dangerous.

Authorities are searching for an escaped Rockdale County inmate who fled Grady Memorial Hospital early Monday morning, December 1, 2025.
According to the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office, inmate Timothy Shane was transported to Grady around 8 p.m. on November 30 for medical evaluation following a suicide attempt. At approximately 1:20 a.m., Shane escaped while still in deputy custody.
Investigators say he fled the hospital on foot and stole an SUV parked nearby. Shortly afterward, he crashed the vehicle and ran from the scene. The owner of the stolen SUV later reported that a Glock handgun was also missing from inside the vehicle.
Shane is described as a white male, 5’09”, with a buzz-cut hairstyle. At the time of his escape, he was wearing a blue hospital gown and no shoes.
Deputies say Shane has a history of evading law enforcement along with prior felony drug and weapons charges. He is considered armed and dangerous.
Multiple agencies are assisting in the search.
