Overturned Semi Blocks Coliseum Drive in Macon

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single-vehicle collision involving a semi-trailer on Coliseum Drive at the intersection of Main Street and Marriott Center. The crash was reported to Macon-Bibb 911 at 3:47 p.m. on Friday, November 14.

Authorities say the semi-trailer, traveling west on Main Street, overturned while turning onto Coliseum Drive. No injuries were reported, but the northbound lanes on Coliseum Drive were temporarily closed while the vehicle was cleared.

The Sheriff’s Office asked travelers to avoid the area, suggesting motorists use the Martin Luther King Boulevard and Riverside Drive intersection as a detour when heading toward Coliseum Drive. Drivers on westbound Interstate 16 were advised to avoid the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard Exit 2.

Roads around the crash site have since reopened. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation into the incident.
