Wanted man arrested in Bibb County with stolen gun and drugs after chase
Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Joshua Benfield arrested a wanted man who was found with two loaded handguns, one of them reported stolen, and suspected narcotics after a brief chase on Riverside Drive.
According to the incident report, Investigator Benfield attempted to stop a moped driver who was riding without a helmet and impeding traffic in the left lane. Instead of pulling over, the man slowed down, made several turns, then abandoned the moped and ran.
Deputy Benfield pursued the suspect on foot down an embankment, where the man continued to resist before being taken into custody. During the arrest, investigators recovered two loaded handguns, including a stolen Derringer revolver, along with suspected narcotics.
The man, identified as a convicted felon with an active warrant, was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center and booked on multiple charges. Investigator Adam Grant assisted at the scene.
