Judge Stacks Sentences: Sexual Predator Gets Two Life Terms Plus 112 Years in Walton County

WALTON COUNTY, Ga.—A Walton County jury convicted 67-year-old Skippy Lee Cospy on Thursday, October 30, 2025, in three separate cases tried together, finding him guilty of numerous sexual and violent offenses against two victims, including a special needs adult.
The jury returned its verdict in under 30 minutes. The Court subsequently sentenced Cospy to two consecutive life sentences plus 112 years in prison (to run concurrently with the life terms).
Crimes and Convictions
The convictions stemmed from a 2022 investigation launched by the Monroe Police Department (MPD) and involved two victims:
Against a Special Needs Adult:
- Rape
- Aggravated Sodomy
- Two counts of Incest
- Aggravated Sexual Battery
- Sexual Battery
- Family Violence Battery
Against a Separate Victim (who was 12 at the time of the abuse):
- Rape
Investigation Details
The investigation began in March 2022 after MPD responded to a domestic dispute where officers learned Cospy had struck the special needs victim, leading to an arrest for Family Violence Battery.
- A month later, the special needs victim disclosed the sexual abuse that had occurred over a period of time.
- Cospy later voluntarily spoke with investigators and made numerous admissions regarding sexual contact with this victim.
- When questioned, Cospy brought up the second victim, who then disclosed sexual assaults that occurred when she was a young child.
During the sentencing hearing, one victim and the family of the other victim testified about the impact of the crimes. Cospy, however, made a statement claiming he did nothing wrong before the Court imposed the two consecutive life sentences.
The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Lacey Majors and her team.
