Wrightsville Officer Fatally Shoots Man Armed with Wakizashi Sword
WRIGHTSVILLE, Ga. -The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Wrightsville that left one man dead and another injured early Monday morning. No officers were hurt in the incident.
According to preliminary information, around 12:00 a.m., a Wrightsville Police Department officer was speaking with a man outside the SideTrack convenience store on East College Street when Diamond Daspin Seltzer, 32, of Wrightsville, arrived at the store.
Investigators say Seltzer got out of his vehicle, approached the two men, and attacked the man with a Wakizashi sword. The officer then got out of his patrol car and shot Seltzer as he continued the attack.
Both Seltzer and the victim were taken to a hospital in Dublin, Georgia, where Seltzer later died. The other man remains in stable condition.
