Savannah Police Arrest Suspect in Armed Bank of America Robbery

Savannah, Georgia – Savannah Police have arrested 37-year-old Eric J. Williams in connection with the October 23 armed robbery of the Bank of America on East Victory Drive. Williams was taken into custody the same day.

Officers responded around 3:40 p.m. after reports of an armed robbery at the bank. Before police arrived, Williams fled the scene and attempted to steal two vehicles but was unsuccessful. SPD patrol officers later located and arrested him without further incident.

Williams has been charged with felony armed robbery.

The Savannah Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the FBI, Chatham County Police Department, Thunderbolt Police Department, and K-9 units from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office.

“This was great work with seamless communication across numerous agencies,” said Savannah Police Chief Lenny B. Gunther. “I couldn’t be prouder of the swift action that was taken to get this dangerous individual off our streets.”
