GBI Investigates Officer-Involved Shooting an Atlanta Family Dollar Store

Atlanta, GA – On Monday, October 27th, at approximately 6:13 p.m., Atlanta Police officers responded to a Family Dollar at 2045 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway NW (in the Grove Park area) regarding a criminal trespass. Upon arrival, a responding officer encountered an adult male who fled on foot.

A foot pursuit led officers to a nearby building at 2095 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway NW, where the suspect approached the officer. During the encounter, the officer discharged their weapon, striking the suspect. The suspect continued on foot to 2080 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway NW, where he received medical attention on scene before being transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

The officer sustained minor leg injuries.

Investigators from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) responded and are leading the investigation. The case remains ongoing.
