Douglas County Couple Arrested in Shocking Infant Abuse Case
Douglas County, GA – Two 20-year-olds from Douglas County have been arrested and charged after their 5-month-old infant was found with more than 30 broken bones in various stages of healing. The injuries were discovered when the child was brought to the emergency room on August 24, 2025, prompting an immediate investigation.
The infant had spent the first four months of life in a NICU facility and had only been in the parents’ custody for approximately six weeks. Interviews with medical staff, family, and witnesses led investigators to conclude that both parents were responsible for the prolonged and repeated abuse.
William King and Amber Rivera, both 20, were taken into custody and appeared before Magistrate Judge Susan Camp, who denied bond for both individuals.
The pair face multiple felony charges, including:
- Aggravated Battery
- Conspiracy to Commit a Felony
- Cruelty to Children – 1st and 2nd Degree
- Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder
Additionally, they face a misdemeanor charge of obstruction.
Authorities have described the case as one of the most severe instances of child abuse in recent local history. The investigation is ongoing, and further legal proceedings are expected in the coming weeks.
