Statesboro Police Investigating Deadly Shooting Outside Bar
UPDATE: The victim was identified as 30-year-old Deontre Mincey. Arrest warrants have been issued for 21-year-old Khalir Nickens of Sylvania, Georgia. Nickens is charged with felony murder and multiple related offenses. Authorities say he should be considered armed and dangerous. The Statesboro Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating Nickens.

The Statesboro Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early Saturday morning in the parking lot of a commercial strip at 200 Lanier Drive, which includes Cowboy’s Bar and Smoke Crave.
At 1:01 a.m. on October 25, officers responded to reports of gunfire and found a 30-year-old man dead at the scene from a gunshot wound. The victim was identified using a portable fingerprint scanner, and his next of kin have been notified. His identity is not being released at this stage of the investigation.
Multiple detectives responded to the scene and began collecting evidence, including surveillance footage and Flock license plate reader data. Video evidence shows several people were nearby when the shooting happened, but none stayed at the scene to speak with officers. Detectives are urging those witnesses to come forward, as their statements could be vital in solving the case.
The victim’s body was transported by the Bulloch County Coroner’s Office to the GBI Coastal Regional Lab for an autopsy.
