Two New Hampshire Men Arrested for Train Hopping in Southeastern Georgia
COFFEE COUNTY, GA — Two men from New Hampshire were arrested Thursday night after authorities say they were caught illegally riding a freight train through Coffee County.
On October 16, 2025, the Law Enforcement Division of CSX Transportation contacted local authorities after a conductor reported seeing two people unlawfully aboard a moving train. Deputies with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area and began searching for the suspects.
When detectives joined the effort, the two men — later identified as 21-year-old Jacob Cuvellier of Auburn, NH, and 18-year-old Charles August Rowe of Hartland, NH — reportedly jumped from the train and ran into a wooded area near the Sink Hole Road crossing.
After a brief search, deputies located and arrested both individuals without incident. They were taken to the Coffee County Pre-Trial Detention Center.
CSX Transportation has charged both men with Criminal Trespass and Hiding on a Train for the Purpose of Stealing a Ride, both misdemeanor offenses under Georgia law.
The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office thanked CSX for its assistance and cooperation during the investigation, noting the quick coordination helped bring the situation to a safe resolution.
