MANCHESTER, GA — A 2-year-old child was airlifted to a trauma center after police say the child’s mother intentionally pushed them from a second-story window at the Cross Creek Apartments on Warm Springs Highway.

Officers with the Manchester Police Department (MPD) responded to the scene on Friday, October 17, 2025, and immediately began rendering aid before launching an investigation. Detectives determined that the child’s mother, Angel McVey-Dowis, had deliberately pushed the child from the window.

The child was flown to a trauma center for emergency treatment. McVey-Dowis was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Cruelty to Children in the First Degree. In an update, MPD said that the child is safe and has been cleared by the hospital.

The Manchester Police Criminal Investigations Division continues to investigate.

In a statement, the department said, “We will never tolerate acts of violence or cruelty toward children. Our officers and investigators remain dedicated to protecting those who cannot protect themselves. We don’t play when it comes to our kids.”
