Savannah Man Arrested in September Rogers Street Homicide

On September 20, 2025, Savannah Police officers responded to the 1200 block of Rogers Street at approximately 9:20 p.m. following a ShotSpotter alert. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following an investigation, Charles Barnes, 54, was arrested on October 8, 2025, in connection with the homicide. He faces charges of murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
