Atlanta Police Arrest Man for Phoned-In Bomb Threat at Piedmont Hospital

On October 6, 2025, Atlanta Police officers responded to Piedmont Hospital at 1968 Peachtree Road NW after a bomb threat was phoned in. Hospital security had obtained the caller’s phone number and an audio recording of the threat.

APD’s Homeland Security Unit investigated and traced the call to 66-year-old Russell Purser. Officers apprehended Purser at his residence without incident. He was charged with Terroristic Threats and transported to Fulton County Jail for processing.

Atlanta Police emphasized that all threats against public safety are taken seriously and thanked the hospital staff for their quick and precise response.
