Polk County Police Investigate Death of Young Girl

The Polk County Police Department is investigating the death of a young girl after officers and first responders were called to a home on Cartersville Highway early Wednesday afternoon.
According to the department, officers from the Uniformed Patrol Division were dispatched at around 12:16 p.m. on October 8, 2025, for a report of a juvenile who was not breathing. When they arrived, bystanders were already performing CPR on the child.
Medical personnel quickly took over lifesaving efforts and transported the juvenile to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and have taken over the investigation. Police said there is no danger to the public at this time, though no further details have been released.
The Polk County Police Department expressed appreciation to several agencies that assisted at the scene, including the Rockmart Police and Fire Departments, Cedartown Police Department, Advent Health EMS, the Polk County Coroner’s Office, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
