Two Teens Critically Injured in Haralson County ATV Shooting; Suspect Arrested

Haralson County deputies are investigating after two young men were critically injured in a shooting early Sunday morning, September 28, 2025.

Deputies were dispatched shortly after midnight to the area of Eaves Bridge Road and Garner Road, where they found Austin Glover unconscious with a gunshot wound to the neck, and Cameron Callahan suffering from a head injury. Callahan was briefly able to speak with first responders before losing consciousness. Both victims were rushed to a trauma center and remain in critical condition.

Investigators learned the victims had been riding dirt roads in a pickup truck when they were pursued by a man on an ATV. The suspect, later identified as 41-year-old Omar Braderick Bennett of Buchanan, reportedly fired at the truck, forcing the victims to flee into nearby woods. When they attempted to leave the area later, Bennett allegedly blocked the road and fired additional rounds, striking the driver and causing the truck to crash into a tree.

Deputies searching the area located Bennett near an ATV parked off a side road. He surrendered without incident, and deputies recovered the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting. During an interview, Bennett admitted to firing shots but claimed he believed the victims’ truck may have been stolen. Investigators have since confirmed the truck belonged legally to one of the victims.

Sheriff Stacy Williams condemned the shooting, stating, “You cannot take the law into your own hands. A possible stolen truck or someone being upset should never cost another person their life. Please pray for the recovery of these two young men and their families.”

Bennett has been charged with multiple offenses, including Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Battery. Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
