Man Critically Injured in Officer-Involved Shooting During DeKalb County Traffic Stop

DEKALB COUNTY, GA — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is probing an officer-involved shooting at the request of the DeKalb County Police Department.
The incident occurred on September 24, 2025, at approximately 3:10 a.m., near Central Drive and Lancanshire Circle. Rodney Moore, 64, of Stone Mountain, GA, was shot and injured during a traffic stop. Preliminary reports indicate that officers discovered Moore had an active arrest warrant.
During the arrest attempt, Moore reportedly indicated he had a firearm. No officers were injured during the incident. Moore was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Once the investigation is complete, the GBI will turn the case over to the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office for review.
