Clayton County Woman Convicted of Murder in Deadly Shooting

CLAYTON COUNTY, GA — Clayton County District Attorney Tasha M. Mosley announced that 37-year-old Quaeisha Jaquodra Pittman has been convicted of Malice Murder, Felony Murder, and two counts of Aggravated Assault in connection with the fatal shooting of Chantel Buckner and the wounding of another victim. Pittman was arrested on August 24, 2022.

Prosecutors said Pittman opened fire as Buckner and others were leaving the scene of an argument tied to a domestic violence incident. According to testimony, Pittman fired approximately 40 rounds, striking and killing Buckner and injuring another woman in the leg.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Rachel Kasatkin and Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Jamal Williams, with investigative support from William Bryan, Sr., Chad Watkins, and John Cogdill. Victim Advocate Nerissa Sims also played a key role in supporting the victims’ families.

Georgia Superior Court Senior Judge Robert Mumford sentenced Pittman to life without parole, plus 20 years to serve consecutively.

“Firearms must never be used to resolve disputes,” DA Mosley said in a statement. “We hope this conviction brings a measure of solace to the victims’ families and underscores our commitment to seeking justice for the citizens of Clayton County.”
