Two Young Men Killed in Richmond Hill Shooting

RICHMOND HILL, Ga. — The Richmond Hill Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) are investigating a shooting that left two young men dead on Saturday night.

At approximately 10:00 p.m. on September 20, 2025, officers responded to a report of a shooting at the Ashton Apartment Complex on Harris Trail Road. Upon arrival, law enforcement found 19-year-old Umar Haqq of Richmond Hill and 18-year-old James Wallace of Savannah with gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Another individual sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The bodies of Haqq and Wallace have been sent to the GBI Crime Lab in Pooler for autopsies. The investigation is ongoing.

Once the investigation is complete, the case file will be turned over to the Atlantic Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
