Fugitive Wanted for Shooting Officer Arrested in McCaysville

MCCAYSVILLE, Ga.—A man wanted in connection with the shooting of a McCaysville Police Captain has been arrested following a multi-agency manhunt.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced that Timothy Craig Ramsey, 26, was taken into custody on Saturday, September 13, at approximately 6:00 p.m. He was a fugitive for more than 24 hours after a Blue Alert was issued for his arrest.
The incident occurred at about 11:10 p.m. on Friday, September 12, when McCaysville Police Captain Brantley Worley responded to a call on 1st Street. The GBI’s preliminary investigation indicates that Ramsey shot Captain Worley upon his arrival. Captain Worley returned fire, but Ramsey was not hit and fled the scene on foot.
Captain Worley was critically injured and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Ramsey has been charged with one count of Felony Aggravated Assault, one count of Possession of a Firearm or Knife During the Commission of a Crime, and one count of Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder. He was booked into the Fannin County Jail.
