McCaysville Police Captain Critically Injured, Manhunt Underway

MCCAYSVILLE, Ga.—Captain Brantley Worley of the McCaysville Police Department was critically injured in the line of duty on Friday, September 12, 2025, while responding to a call for service.

Authorities have identified a suspect in the incident as Timothy Craig Ramsey, a 26-year-old white male. Ramsey is described as approximately 5’11” with long hair and blue eyes, weighing around 185 pounds. He was last seen on foot near 1st Street in McCaysville, wearing a green top, dark bottoms, and a dark motorcycle helmet.

Ramsey is wanted for Aggravated Assault with Intent to Murder a Police Officer and is considered armed and extremely dangerous. The public is urged not to approach him. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately.

Multiple law enforcement agencies are involved in an active manhunt for Ramsey. The McCaysville Police Department, Captain Worley’s family, and the community are asking for prayers during this difficult time.
